Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the SQHK website (sqhk.org) and the services provided through it, including membership applications, donations and event registrations. By using this website you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Definitions

  • "Society" or "SQHK" means the Society for Quality Healthcare, Kenya.
  • "Website" means sqhk.org and all its pages and services.
  • "Member" means any individual or institution that has been admitted to membership and whose subscription is current.
  • "User" means any person who accesses or uses the Website.

2. Membership

Eligibility

Membership is open to healthcare professionals, students, institutions and supporters of quality healthcare in Kenya, subject to the categories and eligibility criteria set out in the SQHK Constitution and on the membership page of this website.

Application and acceptance

Submission of a membership application and payment of the applicable fee does not guarantee membership. The Society reserves the right to accept or reject any application at its discretion. If an application is rejected, the membership fee will be refunded in full.

Duration and renewal

Membership is valid for twelve (12) months from the date of payment. A renewal reminder will be sent by email before the membership expires. Members may renew within two (2) weeks of their expiry date. If membership is not renewed, it will lapse automatically.

Member conduct

Members are expected to uphold the objects and reputation of the Society. The Executive Committee may suspend or revoke the membership of any member whose conduct is prejudicial to the Society, in accordance with the disciplinary procedure set out in the Constitution.

3. Payments

All payments are processed securely by Paystack, our third-party payment provider. The Society does not store or have access to your full payment card or mobile money details.

Membership fees and donation amounts are stated in Kenya Shillings (KES). All prices are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

Payment confirmation and receipts are sent by email to the address provided at the time of payment.

4. Refund policy

Membership fees

  • Refunds of membership fees are available only where a membership application is rejected by the Society.
  • Once a membership application has been accepted, the fee is non-refundable.
  • If a member resigns before their membership term expires, no pro-rata refund will be given.

Donations

Donations are voluntary contributions. Refunds of donations will only be considered in exceptional circumstances (for example, duplicate or erroneous transactions) and are at the discretion of the Society. Requests must be made within fourteen (14) days of the transaction by contacting info@sqhk.org.

5. Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, images, logos, graphics and design — is the property of the Society for Quality Healthcare, Kenya or its content suppliers and is protected by Kenyan and international intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute or republish any content without the prior written consent of the Society.

6. Website use

You agree not to:

  • Use the website for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the website or its systems.
  • Submit false or misleading information through any form on the website.
  • Use automated tools to scrape, index or reproduce website content without permission.

7. Limitation of liability

The website and its content are provided on an "as is" basis. While the Society takes reasonable care to ensure the accuracy of information on the website, we do not warrant that the content is complete, current or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by Kenyan law, the Society shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the website.

8. Third-party links

This website may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for convenience only and do not imply endorsement. The Society has no control over and accepts no responsibility for the content or privacy practices of third-party sites.

9. Privacy

Your use of this website is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information.

10. Changes to these terms

The Society reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
